But they only work if you read them. And can stay focused. The truth is, I have that problem as well. You and I overdo it, take on more than we can chew, have some ADD going on, and this is the price we pay. What will work one day won't the next. Keep up the variety of ways because no ONE way is going to "work" for you forever, don't beat yourself up. She is at the age that all my attention must be on her. Just a stage in our lives I guess, looks like we won't get as much done as we would like. I get things done when she naps, when she is eating in the high chair, when she is watching a baby einstein movie or if her siblings are home then she is entertained enough for me to work on something, or when Dale is home then he takes her. I just tried to organize play dates for her to entertain her. I offered to watch their kids for an hour 1 day and then they would watch Kaleigh a different day--one more hour a week to get what I want to do, done. I list what is going on every hour for that day and then fill in any empty spots with what else needs to be done. As for keeping to it.....I motivate myself by giving myself something fun to do (or I give myself a yummy treat) after the list is done. If I don't finish, I take the items I didn't do and add it to the next day. Sometimes alternating fun things with everyday work makes housework/errands more do able. I laughed for several minutes over that one. I know I could use some lessons in how to truly comfort someone, because I think I am guilty of dispensing advice!

You know, I felt a little guilty about my "get over yourself" statement. In all honesty, my parents are handling it fairly well, better than expected at least. I think that I got frustrated that "other people" were so worried about my parents, that I perhaps thought that maybe they knew something I didn't. I do have to reassure my Mom quite a bit, but I get that. But it also isn't all about her. I guess I don't mind us reassuring each other, but since I wasn't the one who put me in this situation, I kind-of think that I should be the one getting more support in my attempt to puzzle things out. Does that even make sense?

By the way, my pseudo half-sister lives in Phoenix. But wow, how awesome is it that my Birth Mom found me!

@Dubby
Interesting insights! I think you are probably right on the money about why people react the way they do. I have also considered the possibility that when I have talked to people about it, I may not have been upfront with my feelings, and that could have played into how they reacted. Meaning, there is a good possibility that a reaction to, "Guess what! My Birth Mom found me!" might be different than, "So... my Birth Mom found me." It's an interesting experience, for sure.

@JS&S
Now that you've found me, you need to share YOUR blog with me. Thanks for sharing your friends story with me yesterday.
