Mommy And The Big Stink

I've been awake for about 2 hours this morning.

Already I've changed 3 stinky poop-filled diapers.

On a brighter note, Matthew has learned a new word. DIAPER! (Sounds like di-pah.)

Mommy Gets Grossed Out

Today I learned that stomach acids can eat through clothing.

I'll spare you the details (unless you beg for them in the comments).

Mommy Gets Paid

My Mom discovered a feature in her genealogy program that makes poster-sized genealogical charts. Her favorite is the hourglass chart; a chart that shows both the ancestors and descendants of a particular person. After the poster is printed, we spend hours scanning in photos, resizing photos, and ultimately attaching the photos to the poster.

A few months ago, I helped my Mom make one for my Dad.

This time around, we made one for my Grandpa. And bonus! I got paid. :)

Mommy Helps Sara

The school that my children attend requires them to complete a Personal Exploration Project during their 4th, 5th and 6th grade years. It's a fairly intense research project, spread out through the entire school year.

Sara's topic was "Cat's Bodies and How They Work". It's been a year of reading about cats, and Sara, quite frankly, is tired of it. I am glad that the end is in sight!

That said, Sara did get her act together and worked very hard on the "creative" aspect of the project. She chose to create an Alphabet Book and I think it turned out pretty cute.

As for me, I'm just glad that this research project is almost finished! One year down, Two to go. And then I get to start over again with Rebecca!

Mommy Gets A Larger Laundry Pile

When Sara turned 10 last month, her Grandma's present was a gift of love. Sara has been wanting to learn how to sew, so Grandma gave her a trip to the fabric store to pick out material and a pattern for a new outfit. Not only that, but Sara would get to spend the day with Grandma learning how to sew and making her new outfit.

That means that I get a day off! Well, not really. After all, I still have 2 other kids at home to take care of.

Anyway, they left around 10 am on Monday (which was the first official day of Spring Break so Sara didn't have scohol). Due to a snow storm, Sara ended up spending the night at Grandma's, and didn't return home until mid-afternoon on Tuesday.

Sara came home wearing this:

Sara made the skirt; Grandma said that Sara did 50% of the work herself, so I'd say that's pretty good for a first sewing attempt, particularly for a newly-turned 10-year-old. They also made a matching headband. The shirt and jacket were the result of a spontaneous shopping trip to Kohl's, once they realized that Sara had nothing to wear with it.

Didn't Sara do a good job? I'm certainly impressed.

Mommy Can Haz Jelly Beanz?

When we woke up on Easter Morning, our yard looked like this.

Snow!

So the Easter Bunny left our treats inside.

Matthew got a duck, a balloon, and some bath toys.

Sara got a kite, some candy, and some money.

Rebecca got some candy, some money, and a kite.

This year, Easter was the same day as General Conference. This meant that I was a complete slacker, and didn't even bother with new Easter dresses. I'll do better next year, I promise.

We did, however, dye Easter Eggs.

Beautiful Eggs

Happy Easter, everyone!

Mommy Versus The Penguins - Round 2

The greatly anticipated day has finally arrived...

Sara's 10th Birthday Party!

All in all, it was a success. I would have to say that hosting the birthday party at the ice skating rink was easier, in many ways, than hosting the party at our home. I usually complain about people refusing to RSVP, but this year, I would have to say that the most frustrating part was when people who said that they would be there, didn't actually show up. I ended up having to request a refund from the ice skating place because people didn't show up. I am GLAD that I was able to get a refund, but it was still a very frustrating process which took over a week to complete.

Anyway! I know you all want to see the cake. My fondant penguins were adorable. My handwriting (and other cake decorating skills) leave something to be desired.

Mommy Is In Trouble

When Matthew fell asleep today, I decided to let him take his nap on our family room couch. I wanted to keep him within ear-shot while I worked on cleaning up the dungeon (aka basement). I pushed our gigantic and very heavy coffee table over to the couch, so that Matthew couldn't roll off of it while he was sleeping, and got to work.

A little while later, there was the sound of much crashing and banging and crinkling of paper. Furious that George, our cat, was on top of the coffee table and causing all the ruckus, I charged upstairs, ready to scare that gosh-darn cat.

But it wasn't George.

It was Matthew.

That clever little boy woke up, managed to get himself into a sitting position (something he had never done by himself before), and had discovered the table full of treasures.

Someone Is Very Pleased With Himself

I am in SO much trouble now.
